“A beautiful spirit has flown and is watching over you”
These were the words I was asked to apply to a Pied Wagtail lampshade by a customer whose friend, I presume, has lost a loved one. It is interesting to apply a set of words to an image I’ve created, changing the tone and giving it new meaning. I found myself wondering whether the Pied Wagtail was significant to the recipient and then thinking that I would rather like to associate a dear departed with a Wagtail as they are so very present in the garden in spring.
But, d’you know what? If someone I loved died, I don’t think I’d want them to be watching over me. Goodness, not ALL the time anyway. In fact – I’d really like it if they could be off having a blast in the next realm, free from any nostalgia or worse – guilt! Yes – I hope we plunge into Nirvana without so much as a sideways flicker…but maybe that’s just me.
